Thrift with Me// finding books to resell

 I walked through the Hospice doors at exactly opening time. "Buy 1 Get 1" sign on the books, today was my lucky day! I had no room in my arms for books, I got over 30. I also picked up a holy grail item - this is what I call an item that can flip for more than $100. I don't remember how much I spent on everything pictured here. The camera is the holy grail item! That's 42 more books to my shop. (Actually I'm keeping Black Beauty, Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Sewing Book, and the poor but still readable copy of I Know why the Caged Bird Sings.) Remember, half those books were free! That'll be 100% profit.

The Tiger and the baby hats are for my niece and nephew.

And the animal books: The Cat and the Curmudgeons, The Cat Who Came for Christmas, Doggie/ Yorkie magnet, The Best Cat Ever, Animals,  All Dogs Christmas Carol VHS, will be for a lady named April who tried to rescue my kitten, who she named Braveheart and held him in warm arms as he passed away in the hospital. 

This month I want to start donating 10% of my booksales to Rescue Pups, or April, who rescues cats and dogs from the streets and gives them hospital care and a safe place until they are adopted. I need to make my business work, so I have to start selling my art and higher priced items. It'd be a dream to be a bookseller and directly make a positive impact in my community by saving animals.

🎃👻This is the first week of October! Let's see how much I made. Sadly this was my slowest week in sales in 3 months - only 6 sales! Depop has made some changes to the app: added cropping to photos and a My DNA tab to find items you love. It's important not to give up.  3 out of 6 sales were from Mercari. I sold a total of 8 books (I spent $1.50)  and made $24.49.  Frontiers, Prarie Brides Sent an offer for $7 and they accepted. The Mercari fee was .70. Shipping cost was $3.33. I made $2.97. The Outsiders Someone sent me an offer for $7 and I said yes. The Mercari fee was .70. Shipping cost $2.80. I made $3.50   Demi Lovato, Staying Strong Sold for $8. The Mercari seller fee was .80 cents. Shipping cost was $2.80. I made $4.40.   Harry the Dirty Dog This sold on Depop for $9.81. The Depop fee was .98 cents. The shipping fee was $2.80. The PayPal fee was .58 cents. I made $5.45.        ...

November Plan With Me / 2020

I have an online secondhand bookshop using Etsy, Depop, and Mercari. I also have a rare nerve disease called CRPS that is gradully getting worse. Hyla brook Books isn't just a distraction, it's a benediction. I applied for my dream job: an children's librian assistant at the library. I had hope that I could make a living of $300/ week reselling - but my record sales in a month was $351.13 (August report). It's my dream to make a living selling my art and books.  What are my top 3 goals for the month of November? Make $390 - sell my art work - list 300 items across all platforms What are my weekly goals to accomplish my monthly goals? One resin project a week - make a scheduling routine-  focus on books with high resell value - create space to photograph  What could I have done differently in the previous month to improve my shop revenue? What Happened To the Declutter Deathpile Series?

 There were two main objectives in the Declutter Deathpile series, or The Minn Game: 1. Get rid of clutter by removing items from my apartment.  "out with the old, in with the new."  "everything must go"  "letting go of what no longer serves my business" and not listing items that are not worth my time. 2. complete within 30 days removing 1 pound of stuff on day 1, 2 pounds of stuff on day 2, and so on and forth. "a weight off my shoulders" "quantifying how much I let go."
