Thrift with Me// finding books to resell

I walked through the Hospice doors at exactly opening time. "Buy 1 Get 1" sign on the books, today was my lucky day! I had no room in my arms for books, I got over 30. I also picked up a holy grail item - this is what I call an item that can flip for more than $100. I don't remember how much I spent on everything pictured here. Find out what I got below, keep reading and let me know in a comment which one was your favorite find!

Above: Gandhi, The Last Tycoon, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Louis L'Amour book, Homeland, The Cat and the Curmidgeon, The Best Cat Ever, Animals, The Phantom Tollbooth, All Dogs Christmas Carol, The Cat Who Came for Christmas, Doggie/ Yorkie magnet, Readers Digest book of greatest novels, Cold Mountain, The Reindeers Big Night, Girl with the Pearl Earring, The Christmas Theif, Lone Survivor, In the Heart of the Sea, I know Why the Caged Bird Sings (2nd copy)

above: Raggedy Ann, Nancy Drew and the E-mail mystery, Unknown Quantity, The Great Mouse Detective, Georgia O' Keeffe, Louis L' Amour, Louis L' Amour, The Water is Wide, The Cat Who Said Cheese, Stone Fox, 3 Little House of the Prarrie books, Black Beauty, Best Loved Songs of the American People, Sewing Books
above: The Last LEcture, Spartina, The Christmas Alphabet Book, Plenty of Pelly and Peak, The Magic School Bus, Murders in Texas, Readers Digest Best Novels,

Last photo: Got Getta Gund Tiger, 2 newborn beanies, Honeywell Pentax camera.

The camera is the holy grail item! That's 42 more books to my shop. (Actually I'm keeping Black Beauty, Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Sewing Book, and the poor but still readable copy of I Know why the Caged Bird Sings.) Remember, half those books were free! That'll be 100% profit.

The Tiger and the baby hats are for my niece and nephew.

And the animal books: The Cat and the CurmudgeonsThe Cat Who Came for Christmas, Doggie/ Yorkie magnet, The Best Cat Ever, Animals,  All Dogs Christmas Carol VHS, will be for a lady named April who tried to rescue my kitten, who she named Braveheart and held him in warm arms as he passed away in the hospital.

This month I want to start donating 10% of my booksales to Rescue Pups, or April, who rescues cats and dogs from the streets and gives them hospital care and a safe place until they are adopted. I need to make my business work, so I have to start selling my art and higher priced items. It'd be a dream to be a bookseller and directly make a positive impact in my community by saving animals.

End of Month Reseller Report - July 2021

How much did I make in July? It's August 2nd and I'm taking a look back at my accomplishments.  What Sold July 1-7 What Sold July 8-14 What Sold July 15-21 What Sold July 22-31 I made $235.54 selling books. I did my first ever listing challenge and I want to do another one - stricker dead line.  List 100 Items in 13 Days. That's half the time it took to do the original challenge. 13 is also the date I was born. A Baker's Dozen. Perfect! When I told Joe at the Post Office I wanted to make $1k or $800 a month he blew a tire and looked skeptical, and he kinda laughed. We both did. Is it such a crazy idea that I deserve this? That at the end of everything, I'll be the owner of a secondhand bookshop. Some cool things I added to my shop: Magic The Gathering Cards, skirts, I opened my Ebay store and added items but haven't completed the set up.  Also, my new goal is to make $100 each week by pursuing sales. Offering to likers on Depop which i never do - posting more i...

What Sold July 1-7

These weekly What Sold posts kept me organized, so I'm bringing them back. I review what items sold on each platform, how much it sold, the fees, and what my profit was. Every month I have the same goal to make $350, but my dream goal is to make $800 per month just by selling books. I currently sell on Depop, Mercari, Instagram, Etsy, and various Facebook groups. Depop has been incredibly slow - I have not made any July sales yet. In June I had 4 orders, in May I had 3, in April I had 6 orders, 7 orders in March, 9 in February, and 7 in January. That gives you an idea how many orders come through Depop and why it's important to cross list. I think I have more sales on Mercari. The Summer Slowdown is here! I haven't made any sales yet on Mercari in July. Mercari makes it a little harder to view your sales history in chronological order, but here is how many orders went through each month this year 2021 on Mercari: January - | | | | | | February - March - | | | | | | | | Ap...

Selling on Ebay for Beginners - Pt. 1

I am brand new to selling on Ebay, I avoided it because I personally felt that the interface felt outdated, I never buy anything on Ebay, and Ebay seems intimidating . On the other platforms I sell on, it is so easy and fast to list. When I listed my first item, it felt like I was filing out paperwork at a doctor's office. It's going to take some time to get used to Ebay's layout, a newcomer can't navigate the Seller's Hub so quickly. It's free to register. Ebay will send an amount to your bank you have to confirm to receive payments. When you first start out, you can only list 10 items per month, this renews every 90. You have to build up your "feedback" - so I'll have to make a purchase or two through Ebay. (Going to see if I can find a Samsung Technologies Q2U microphone to upgrade my Podcast!) This link below is essential reading for new Ebay sellers: https://export.ebay.com/en/listings/limits/selling-limits/ The website says 10, but I was onl...
