Spring Book Haul to Resell! I Met Another Writer!

spring has sprung!  I only took the books. Books make me deliariously happy. I spent $21 and some change. Let's round that up to $22 on over 20 books. Each book was 50 cents, but I can take 22 and divide it by the number of books. I got so many gorgeous classic editions.  1) remember what each item was individually 2) take the number of items you sourced and divide from the total amount 3) find one item that will pay for the entire haul Video coming soon!! I actually felt really sad that I lost 2 subs, and I think it's from my make up video. I think people are finding my make up and asmr videos and then realizing i'm a reseller and unfollowing me - b/c i am getting lots of makeup videos. so I will try to post more resell content. https://youtu.be/NWDqfCk9IlU?si=feZMajEAKGwUecCh total amount of books: 38 a total of $22 Can I lot the Time Life Books and sell for $60? For the Love of Books - Library Sale - Book Haul for my Bookshop

I made a video for youtube and reminded myself that the main reason I started my youtube channel was to document my thrift hauls and what solds, and my declutter process. My office space is looking great, and I am a quarter of the way through the Minn Game, or the Declutter Deathpile series. That is the next video I am going to work on right away. I decided, at least until I reach 500 subs, that I don't care TOO much about the quality of my videos. I need the algoritm to know that I will post a video every 3-5 days. Once I reach that many subs, I will probably privatize most of my videos and "start from scratch" by remaking videos - this was a suggestion and I thought it wasn't a bad idea to take the original videos that arent well produced and reproduce them. Once the Declutter Deathpile series is over, I will publlish my Detachment is Hard, where I talk in depth about clutter and how it affects my mental health as well as my business, how they are linked, how shame...

Spontaneous Drop in at the Hospice!

I did something new - I shipped my ebay order using the QR code. This meant my item shipped the next day. I'm super happy with that sale as well - it was a FREE item from a bag full of luxury brands like Zara.  The Hospice is right around the corner and I could not resist. My finds did not disappoint!!  12 books, or $3 worth and one Scooby Doo Santa Stocking, I spent $2. It needs batteries but hopefully it works.  I don't have my own stocking, so if it doesn't sell that's okay!  Scooby Doo sings "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" so it's totally worth the $2 and the batteries to see if it's still functional. My total was $6.77. Minus .50 cents for a Christmas plate I bought surely for the purpose of gifting my neighbor cookies. So technically my total was $6.27  - - - - It's hard not to keep some books for myself.  A List of books-  -- - - -  4 vintage paperback Agatha Christie books, 2 I Spy Books, one of which is a Christmas edition, Two...

Alejoh's Hut & Thrifting

I've been craving these pastur tacos! Nothing like authentic Mexican food. Me, my friend Jade and her boyfriend Jodie went to Alejoh's Hut. I am encouraging myself to go out more, but this was expensive. My total was $29.  Let's break down everything I got at the Thrift Shoppe. The VCR is the item I'm hoping to tripple my money on. I paid $10. At least sell for $48.99-69.99.  Vintage teddy bear salt and pepper shakers. I paid $1 hoping to sell for $10.  A J.Jill moss green v-neck tunic, I'll try to sell for $39-19. It's merino wool. An Heirloom Collectible Christmas Vest I'll start at $29.99 - $19.95 A Victoria Jones Christmas Vest I'll start at $24.98. For the Christmas vests, I invested $5 a piece. I also got this plain brown Mossimo knit long sleeve, more for myself for winter. It's a great layering piece. I noticed a box of cassette tapes under a table and picked two: The Romantic Age of the Classics, 4 cassette tapes over 4 hours and The Moody...

Thrift with me! I spend $25 on inventory to resell in my bookshop!

I had to go pay rent and I looked like a waif doing it. I'm glad I didn't ask for a ride. I was uninfluenced by any one around me, not having to think too hard about socializing.  from a reseller's perspective, I wasted money.  I spent $24.67  on 19  books for the shop. I carried 10 pounds of books and walked 3  miles. You could say that I got a good exercise while sourcing. And one of the books from the haul sold less than 24 hours after listing it! Goodwill thrift haul come book shopping with me! vlog  (And I have if not hundreds of ex library books that still need to be listed.) I am feeling buyer's remorse. I posted a YouTube video of my book haul except I forgot to mention a few details:  This haul was on May 5, and I had all books listed on Mercari, Depop, and Pango books by May 6-7. I'm hoping I will make my money back by the 20th.  I walked into Goodwill the first time with every intention to only spend $5. I bought a small batch of...

Your Death Pile : The Afterlife for Items that Never Sold

I know your dark secret. Admit it, it's hidden in storage and closets, it's your greed at a time where everything you saw were dollar signs. The sales were so good you got more than you bargained for! Death pile is a term resellers use for their unsold inventory. It's time to dig up the graveyard and give those items a new life. 💀 Be honest with yourself. Are you going to resell it? Keep it? Donate it?  The first step for me was to package all my books into boxes. I dedicated shelf space for my personal collection, books for sale and books I wanted to list. It gave me space to reimagine my shop and I started getting day dreamy about  reopening my secondhand bookshop, Hyla Brook Books.  A few months ago when I announced closing my shop I was so sad, like something died. Not like a pet but something in me felt defeated. Except now I'm starting to see what's beyond the beyond!  👻 Something else to consider is that I banned myself from buying more books. I c...

Fall Book Haul 🍂🍂

It's been months since I've bought books! MONTHS!!   I closed my shop earlier this year and packed up hundreds and hundreds of books but you know what? I miss my bookshop. I love shopping for books and I have a talent for finding valuable vintage books. I also can't help but buy my favorite books even if I have copies at home, I can't resist fonts and cute covers and that perfectly sized paperback.   I also want to promote books to raise money for my animals, and then continue doing the work for other fosters. Moo Books was that title I gave, but I see it's more like a slang term. Hyla Brook Books is my official store name, #moobooks are the books that sell for fosters. 12 books. 12 seemlingly random books. Was I planning on reselling any? Any for me?  From the top left to right:  Charlotes Web, The Time Traverler's Wife, 1998 Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle Middle left to right: Flinston's Blast from the Past, The Glass Castle, The Personality of the Do...

What I thrifted in August 2021

I neglected to make Thrift W Me posts for all the new inventory I sourced this month. I started a new job so on Friday I treated myself to shopping for books. I'm really hoping this first week of September I don't have too many hours. I am having a lot of trouble working a traditional job due to my mental illness and chronic illness.  Having this job will help pay my bills, keeping me secure, and I can have a little more wiggle room for my business. I need to buy bins and bookshelves for all my inventory. Here is a haul I did for my youtube channel. I know it's terrible but it's the best I can do right now.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxbwcJSxVng I also got some bins this month for storage and it's such a great feeling knowing the books are safe. Here are some books I got for free: These books below I surprisngly got from the Courthouse! I also feel like it's a good sign that someone left The Illusionist and Skyrim at the Free Library, a sign to add more D...

Thrift with Me! - I spent $3.75 on these forgotten masterpieces!!

All I had was the change in my purse and since I had walked all the way to the Post Office, I decided to walk the distance to my honey pot, the Hospice. Which is becoming more and more less of a secret.  I gifted Alexander The Final Cut to Anthony because it is his favorite movie. There's 45 minutes of unseen footage for him. The shelves again were empty of books, so i picked up Trump Surviving at the Top to add to my other Art of the Deal to hopefully sell as a bundle. Before the elections, Trump was a liked guy. On Oprah, in rap songs, and even made an appearance on Home Alone.  Let It Go" is Avril Lavignes first album and my pre teen years on a disc. The case is a little scratched up, but the CD looked in great condition. I haven't put my CD's up for sell yet since I want to test them first.  The Scooby-Doo Storybook Collection is too perfect. I will put it together with a Scooby Doo plush toy and list right away. It only has a name in the front and has all clean...
