Thrift with me // Staying in my comfort zone - one sale so far!!

I had to do something to make myself feel good. I went to the Hospice, where I should have gone to spend $127. I got me some good old books and spent a total of $20.64.

The first item I listed was this Dorothy dress from the Wizard of Oz. It's not too late to sell costumes before Halloween. I paid $4 and listed this for $15. If this item sells then I will have made half my money back.

I came across a handful of fantasy paperback books. (Mercedes Lackey, Douglas Adams.) They have the coolest covers even if they aren't worth much. I'm going to list them individually, and then in a week lot them up together. Each book was only .25 cents.

The Fall vest was only $1.50. I have it listed for $20. These art teacher style vests are really in right now, so hopefully this one will sell since it's affordably priced!

This is another item that if it doesn't sell within 7 days of listing then I am totally keeping for myself!! It's this adorable cat with a fiddle. It gives me all the Studio Ghibli vibes. I only paid .50 cents for him!!

I paid $3 for each skirt. One is from Anthropologie and I think it will sell quickly since it has that preppy y2k school girl style. The other skirt is double slit, very bohemian would look great on someone with thick thighs and taller than me. It makes me wish I had a mannequin.

Did I forget to mention all the true crime books I've added to my personal library? I also grabbed Inkspell to add to my collection of Cornelia Funke / childrens books.

List of books I bought for a quarter:

True Crime

Grave Accusation by Andrea Egger

The Cases that Haunt Us by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker

Unnatural Death, Confessions of a Medical Examiner by Michael M. Baden, M. D.

Poisoned Love by Carlton Smith

personal

inkspell by cornelia funke

The Moon and More and Just Listen, Sarah Dessen

The mysterious affair at styles, agatha christie

ghost boy by martin pistorius

I think the best find were these New Balance running shoes. They were half off today, lucky me. I got them for just $4.

Ahhh!! While writing this post I made a sale!! Oathblood!!

*goes to package order with new spooky ghost polymailers

I only made $1.99 from this sale off Mercari. I am going to subtract that from the total COG's today. ($20.64 - $1.99 = $18.65.) That's how much I need to make to break even!

EDIT!

Wow!! The Dorothy costume sold already!! On Mercari. I priced it low. I also did not charge enough for shipping, so Mercari will charge me an adjustment, but we will cross that bridge when we get there. (the package was 1 pound.)

$18.65 - $12.42  = $6.23. That's awesome!! In less than 24 hours I've made more than half my money back.

End of the Month Reseller Report // January 2023

I am a part time reseller on Mercari, Pango Books, and Ebay. I flip books online, I love having an online bookstore. Here is a break down of my January sales. This was my first month back reselling! I am hosting a giveaway to welcome back all my readers over on my Facebook page where I am giving away 12 vintage true crime novels. I also wanted to celebrate by doing a fundraiser to raise money and awareness for my favorite cat rescue.  My Cost of Goods were .25! I didn't have to pay anything in shipping, here's a small break down of the platform fees: Mercari:  -$3.56 Pango Books:   -.79 Ebay:   $-1.31 Overall, I had a total of 7 transactions. A total of 9 books left the shop! 3 on Mercari 1 on Pango Books and 1 on Ebay. I also had 2 transactions on Paypal. (100% of the profits went to the rescue.) My goal is consistent sales, I ended up listing only 37 books in the month of January. More listings equals more sales!!  My net profit was $17.28, BUT I di...

When Your Best Friend Pulls Out A Yearbook 2010

It's so crazy to look back at myself more than 10 years ago - my skinny jeans, converse wearing, side swept bangs and puka shell necklace self. I just noticed my legs are crossed in both photos. John Earl had a mega crush on me, and we were Literary sweethearts and he even bought me my first typewriter : a vintage Royal typewriter with a locking case.  He ended up marrying a very pretty girl and he seems like the perfect husband.  I was in Literacy Circle (a club for readers) all years in highschool and worked as a media assistant those years too.  Funny how I'm looking at this photograph, 10 years later, selling books.

End of Month Reseller Report - July 2021

How much did I make in July? It's August 2nd and I'm taking a look back at my accomplishments.  What Sold July 1-7 What Sold July 8-14 What Sold July 15-21 What Sold July 22-31 I made $235.54 selling books. I did my first ever listing challenge and I want to do another one - stricker dead line.  List 100 Items in 13 Days. That's half the time it took to do the original challenge. 13 is also the date I was born. A Baker's Dozen. Perfect! When I told Joe at the Post Office I wanted to make $1k or $800 a month he blew a tire and looked skeptical, and he kinda laughed. We both did. Is it such a crazy idea that I deserve this? That at the end of everything, I'll be the owner of a secondhand bookshop. Some cool things I added to my shop: Magic The Gathering Cards, skirts, I opened my Ebay store and added items but haven't completed the set up.  Also, my new goal is to make $100 each week by pursuing sales. Offering to likers on Depop which i never do - posting more i...
