Tips for Resellers for the Summer Slow Down

Feeling discourged? It's the middle of the summer and my sales have slowed almost to a complete stop. I sell books on Depop, Mercari, Instagram, and Facebook, my bookshop is Hyla Brook Books. I found myself relistening to my own podcast to remember my advice; I've listed 100 items over the last 22 days and only 10% sold. But think of it this way - I'm setting up my shop for success for the fall.

What Sold in my Bookshop October 8 - 14

This week I'm determined to list list list! I list new items every day. This week I sold a total of 20 books, 2 clothing items, and a photo album. I spent $11.48 and made $178.13. Lady Midnight, 13 Reasons Why Had a 15% off sale on my Depop. She paid $12.75. The PayPal fee was .67 cents. It cost $3.86 to ship. The Depop fee was 1.28. I made a total of $6.94. LuLa Roe Disney Alice in Wonderland leggings These sold 22 hours after listing them and since it was a repeat buyer I offered 10% off from $25. I really appreciate repeat buyers. This sold in the Facebook group Wonderlust Marketplace. Sold for $22.50, PayPal fee was .95, and the shipping label was $3.33. I made $18.22. Woman Who Runs w Wolves This sold for $20 which is a lot more than I imagined someone would pay for it. The Mercari fee was $2. Shipping was $3.33. I made $14.67. So far I've made $39.83. Did I do better than the week before? I barely listed any items. Days went by where I didn't list. I had sales on all 3 platforms. Maas = $7.50 Y2k denim overbust shrug / bolero asymmetrical = $40.25 $79.82 - $4.25 COG = $75.57 These are the kind of weeks I like as a hobbiest/ side hustle. $80-$200 a week is preferable. But there's a LOT of work into reselling, you should set your goals higher. $100 a day.

March was a bad month for me, I'm not sure if it gets better in April!! No Ebay Sales. No Depop Sales. MERCARI The Ninth House sold for $14, I purhcased for $1.50. My earnings were $11.69. Sold Stack of 4 antique books for $15.00. My earnings were $12.56. These books were Free. Sold the Fox Fire book for $5. This was FREE. My earnings were 3.85. Sold the Silk scarf Carlisle for $14. I paid $1 for this. My earnings were $11.69. sold antique book lot for $76. These were free. I made $65.49. Sold vampire book lot. FREE. I made $4.58 from this $6 sale. Sold The Catcher in the Rye, for $5. I earned $3.73. Sold The Fisherman's Wharf, FREE I sold for $13. I made 10.68.
