Mid Month Review : October 2020

At my last job we would do a monthly review to see if I was making my stats and aligning with my goals. Its a time to step back and strategize and remind myself what my Monthly Goals are. Heres the link to my October Plan w Me. Depop = 213 listings Mercari =  Etsy = 36 listings One of my goals is to have 300 listings and I have more than enough books to list. I need to do some listing!  What Sold - October 1-7 What Sold - October 8-14 What Sold   - October  15-22 My goal for the month is a new record in sales $360. I have also zeroed in on an organizing system. With over 1,000 books tucked away in my one bedroom apartment, some books pull a Houdini on me. The books somehow escape from the shelves or box i put them in, and I'll spend hours trying to figure out where the book is, only to magically find it in a different box. The only books on the shelves are listed; all the books in boxes still need to be photographed and uploaded. They are divided into...

5 Apps to Make Money for Resellers

What apps do you use? In this post I'll share what apps I've used to make money reselling as well as some other platforms you haven't heard of.   Vinted  Their mobil app was launched in 2012 and has 25 million users. This was the first reselling app I ever downloaded, back in 2014.   Depop i've been selling on this app on and off for three years. It's users are next gen, with a flair of indie designers and artisians. It was founded in 2011 by the cofounder of PIG magazine, Simon who originally had the app so people could buy featured items modeld in the magazine, but he realized  the potential and created a reselling platform that looks like Instagram. There are 21 million users who have a passion for fashion and I'm happy with my sales there. Poshmark i had this app and got offers but disliked the userface so much I never bothered. Clunky, but undeniably boasts 60 million users since opening in 2011. (which is astounding since a Forbes article in 201...

Thrift W Me

Supr lucky they had buy 1 get 1 free at the Hospice. This place is a godsend. I spent $11.53. I did get books I don't normally, wondering if I'm not giving these authors a chance since it's not my genre. I do know there are John Grisham and Dean Knootz fans, so since they were free I took that chance. I also got some clothes on a whim! There was only 10 minutes left and I ran to the back, picked up a cheetah print skirt and a white tunic top shirt, more for myself.   17 books total. I couldn't resist the Teddy Bear I think he would look adorable on my shelf. It has a tag on it : J. B. Bean and Associates Freddy Beanberger ($2) The creme top is gauzy with lacey details from Altered State (2.99). The cheetah print skirt is from LORI Michaels collection - a size Large ($2.99) I also got 2 pearl necklaces for $1.  Can't wait to list these! ◦°˚\(*❛‿❛)/˚°◦ Sign up for Mercari and get up to $30. Here's my invitation link   Visit my Etsy to view my antique books ...

My Wild Success off Mercari

I knew I had to sit down to write about how I've seen a lot of success on Mercari. I have my own secondhand bookshop Hyla Brook Books and I'm a writer. It would be a dream come true if I can make this full time. Right now it's a great part-time gig. It makes me wish I didnt have a chronic illness that inhibits me from working a normal 9-5 job. That's honestly my biggest motivator, my shop has been a distraction from the disease so I had nothing to lose to start Mercari.   On 7/30/2020 I set a goal to make $500 on this reselling app, the nerdy child of Ebay and Marketplace. I've made $85.50, only $434 more to go. Mercari had seller stats, an easy way for sellers and buyers to make offers, and notified you when the price dropped on an item you like. You can save search terms so those products appear on your search feed, unlike Depop's explore page which goes full vogue. Mercari feels mature, with a fresh selection of home decor, electronics, and in...

thrift with me

I went to get some gifts but also more books for my shop. I spent $35.  Edit : I already made my money back by selling the Twilight books, the Titanic bundle, and Valfrie inspired photo album ( What Sold post) and Nurses Verses I actually got in an Estate Sale ( My 1st Estate Sale post here)  Edit: Updating to add more sales: The Glass Castle (what Sold post), Edgar Allen Poe (what sold post), and Running with Scissors. I still haven't listed the skirts or pants, or the VHS tapes, or the puzzle. I've been slowly curating clothes for the Hyla Brook Book aesthetic. It's a grunge Hermoine look, a modern Jane Austen, my style is very western.  More books and an unopened puzzle. I also got some baby stuff for my sister who is delivering a baby boy in a month. its elephant themed. Just thought I'd show everything I got to resell.   So far I've listed that Valfrie inspired photo album - the vintage book of Edgar Allen...
